Varsity Club (Before & After School)

Fayetteville Varsity ClubLearning and fun continues in Varsity Club, our before and after school program. Our well-balanced curriculum, Building the Primary Classroom, encourages imagination, builds pride, and offers new challenges. It provides opportunities for academic success while children gain knowledge in core subject areas. By promoting a positive classroom culture, our curriculum allows children to experience new adventures, which inspires a lifelong love of learning and exploration.

The curriculum objectives are the heart of the Building the Primary Classroom program and define the path teachers take with students in their classroom. They inform every aspect of teaching, include predictors of school success, and are aligned with state Common Core State Standards. The objectives cover 6 areas of development and learning, including broad developmental areas and content areas. Many of the objectives also include examples that guide teachers’ thinking about various aspects of that objective, and help clarify what it addresses.

Sign for “please”

Infant and Toddlers

Learn the history of Baby Sign Language, from its roots in a strange observation made by a 19th century linguist, through to mainstream acceptance in the 2000s. Research on baby sign language has found that teaching baby signs improved cognitive and emotional development. Far from slowing down speech, baby sign language actually increases the rate of verbal development and at the same time increases the parent/child bond.

BabySignLanguage.com is a project for parents and adults teaching infants and toddlers early communications skills. BabySignLanguage.com believes that early communication sets the foundation for accelerated learning, reduced frustration, and a closer relationship between adult and child. The website and their printed resources contain baby sign language pieces designed around the pedagogical needs of infants and toddlers. The program was founded after the Mey Lau, Lila Retnasaba and Brooke Parker started teaching their own children to sign. They quickly realized the importance of helping young children begin to communicate and wanted to share the experience with as many people as they could.
